‘LIFE ISN’T ABOUT GETTING AND HAVING, IT’S ABOUT GIVING AND BEING.’

WELCOME

Dursa Kadu is an exceptional young man who, at the age of 27, has achieved more than most of us could ever imagine. After leaving his home country, Ethiopia, at 16 years old due to major conflicts in his area – he has lived alone in Sudan, Libya, and now Malta. Dursa has experienced illegal detention and human trafficking in Libya, due to no fault of his own, and has endured some of the world’s harshest living conditions. All of these moments have made Dursa into the resilient, passionate, and hard-working man that he is today.

Now Dursa is using his experience of difficult situations to inspire the next generation. As a co-founder of Spark15 and aspiring athlete, Dursa shows time and time again that anything is possible.Whether you are a school or business, expect to be inspired by Dursa’s incredible story.

Testimonials

“I am Paul Galea and I work as a teacher. I have known Dursa for a number of years mainly through Spark 15, a refugee led NGO where we were both on the board. However, throughout this time I have also got to know him as a very good friend.”

It is a privilege to be given this opportunity to speak about Dursa. I met Dursa a number of years ago, as one of the members of the inspiring organisation Spark 15. Over the years I have watched Dursa grow as he navigated his new life in Malta with courage, dignity and strength. As President of Spark 15, Dursa has generated a new energy within the group as he is able to bring people together, inspire, and lead with both humility and confidence. He is independent, fun and reliable, demonstrating a maturity way beyond his years. I consider it a privilege to consider him as both a trusted advisor, and a friend.

I am Lorraine Shaw –Head of Banking Department and have known Dursa for the past 4 years as he was one of my administrative assistants. He has always been loyal , dedicated,  trustworthy and collaborative. He has always shown respect to all religions , values and ethics and has always integrated well within our cultures. His kindness shows in various aspects and is an essential model in our long lost society. Dursa is an extraordinary example to us all . Thus his trust and loyalty are highly recommendable.
You are an example in today’s time and age… we surely need more people like you. …. Thank you.

Head of Banking Department

I met Dursa Mama Kadu when I was President of Malta, at a time when I facilitated the foundation of the non-government organisation called Spark 15.

Dursa was one of the young refugee pioneers of Spark 15, and has worked his way to become the President of the organisation.

Since I first met Dursa, I witnessed a transformation in him as, slowly but surely, he built a new life in Malta. Dursa has shown great strength, courage, and determination to achieve his aspirations with dignity and respect. He is confident, mature, reliable and always willing to help others, whatever their needs.

As President of Spark 15, Dursa can take the organisation forward with determination and enthusiasm. Dursa possesses excellent leadership qualities, which can give Spark 15 renewed impetus to be of service to the many young refugees seeking its protection.

Dursa strives to encourage other young refugees to become active participants and agents of inclusive societies in Malta, and beyond. I am so proud of Dursa for having achieved so much in a relatively short period of time.

I am certain that he will continue to flourish and be an inspiration to others.

Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca

Former President of Malta

Dursa is one of the most dedicated persons I have had the pleasure of working with. He is one person that really understands the term ‘civic duty’, giving up much of his time to make the world a better place. He is extremely honest and hard working but most of all he is a kind person, ready to help out anyone in need.

In his capacity as President of Spark 15, I have seen him work to make the lives of those around him better. He has the ability to bring people together, whether it is to play sport or to discuss an issue. Another of his strengths is empathy and using this strength he is able to bring the best out of people. For these reasons, I can say that Dursa is someone who will go far in life and be a star for the world to follow as an exemplary model.

It is a privilege to be given this opportunity to speak about Dursa. I met Dursa a number of years ago, as one of the members of Spark 15. Over the years I have watched Dursa grow as he navigated his new life in Malta with courage, dignity and strength. Within his role as President of Spark 15, Dursa has generated a new energy. I consider it a privilege to consider him  as both a trusted advisor, and a friend.

“As a founding member of Spark 15, we have worked with Dursa for several years on training, coaching and sports events. He is genuinely committed to supporting people, to helping them feel included. Having lived through the inherent challenges of integrating into a new community, Dursa has a lot of valuable insights to share based on real-life experience and is considered an important, key player in mobilising the refugee community in Malta.”
